First made in around 1900 by a Swiss physician for his patients, Muesli now has become one of the very popular healthy breakfast dishes. It is prepared with raw rolled oats along with other ingredients like grains, fresh or dried fruits, seeds and nuts that are mixed with milk, soy milk, yogurt or fruit juice to eat. Today, Muesli is available in many forms, including packaged dry food, ready made food, and is also made fresh at home by many people. Moreover, it is also eaten as a light evening dish by people in Switzerland and Germany. Muesli makes a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables and this is why, it makes an essential part of medical therapy.
When available as a packaged muesli, it serves a loose mixture of rolled oats or cornflakes with various other ingredients like dried fruit pieces, nuts and seeds. Some other varieties of packaged muesli also contain spices, chocolate and honey. It is commonly eaten with milk and can be served with hot chocolate, yoghurt, fruit juice, coffee and water. When a muesli is freshly made, it is prepared with the help of rolled oats, apple, bananas, oranges, cottage cheese, raisins, and raspberries.
