A form of bread that is baked and is made sweet in taste is called a cake. Unlike the older times, today the cakes are not the fried breads, but the modern cakes have layers of cream and they are commonly prepared with a combination of flour, eggs, sugar, butter or oil. Some cakes, on the other hand, also require products like milk or water and leaving agents like baking soda. Moreover, many flavored ingredients are also added to cakes nowadays to enhance their taste and quality such as nuts, candied fruits, fruit purees, fruit preserves, desert sauces, etc. They are iced with butter cream and many different types of icings to give a rich look and a tasty flavor to the top most layer of it.
The different categories of cakes available today are yeast cakes, cheesecakes, sponge cakes, and butter cakes. The dessert palette at wedding ceremonies, anniversary occasions or birthday celebrations generally serve a variety of flavored cakes like chocolate cake, mousse cake, caramel cake, fruit cakes, crumbles, cake shots (like the small cake muffins), pies and many more. Even on the special occasions like Christmas and Halloween, we make the celebrations by cutting a cake. They are made in many different shapes with the help of the molds and their decorations make them look different from each other.
