A neutral and nonpolar substance or a class of various chemical compounds that has various properties and uses is known as oil. It is basically a viscous liquid that is usually flammable and slippery and have a high content of carbon and hydrogen. Oils originate from different sources such as animals, vegetables and petrochemicals. The various purposes that the oils are used for are: for cooking food, as a fuel, as a lubricant, for the manufacturing of paint and plastic, etc. Organic and mineral are the two types of oils that are available in the market for the use, however, for cooking and food preparation, edible vegetable and animal oils make the common choice. The cooking oils are mostly derived from the animal fats like butter and lard, whereas plant oils are derived from the sunflower, maize, olives and many other natural species.
Cooking oils are used for frying, baking and many other cooking needs. The various types of cooking oils are soybean oil, olive oil, peanut oil, palm oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, pumpkin seed oil, argan oil, rice bran oil, sesame oil and grape seed oil.
