An instrument that is optical which can capture images and can be stored,or transferred to any other location is called a Camera. The images captured by the camera can be still or moving. The word "Camera" is derived from the term "camera obscura" .It's a Latin word which means dark chamber. The process of capturing images done by the camera is very much same as how the Human eye sees things.
All the cameras basically have the same design. Converging lens help the light to enter a closed box and the image is captured on a medium that is light sensitive. The shutter controls the time of light entering the camera. Most cameras today come with a Liquid Crystal Display which help the user to view the scene that has to be captured and also helps in setting the shutter speed, film speed etc.
A video Camera follows the same procedure as above except that it captures a series of images in quick succession, mostly at the speed of 24 frames per Sec. When these series of images are merged and viewed in order, the objective of viewing video is achieved.
Some of the famous companies that manufacture cameras today are Canon, Sony, Samsung, Nikon, Tamron etc.
