A jersey is an article of knitted fabric, customarily in either cotton or wool, worn as a kind of sweater, with no opening at the front. It is by and large skin-tight and is usually machine knit in comparison to hand knitted sweaters made from a thick yarn. On the other hand, a jersey as used by sportspersons is a simple shirt worn by the associate member of a team, characteristically illustrating the player s name along with the brand logo of the sponsors.
Coco Chanel was the first lady to use jersey for women s clothing, easy, handy and relaxing, the cloth was the complete contrast of what women s outfits had until that time been: showy, extreme and based around a tight corset. This selection of fabric was also one of the requirements of that time as the battles had resulted in a diminutive availability of usual expensive fabric used for women s clothing. The jersey dresses have the elastic fresh fabric which covers the body like a glove. The comfortable fabric of the jersey makes them so popular.
