Kota sarees also known as Kota dori or Kota doria saree is a types of saree fabric created in Kota, Rajasthan and Muhammadabad Gohna, Mau in Uttar Pradesh. Kota Doria saree also known popularly as Masuria Malmal, picking the name from Mysore where Kotia Doria was originated.Between 17th and 18th centuries the weavers from Mysore were brought to Kota who later settled here and grew in number.
These Sarees are a unique blend of pure cotton and silk, a very fine weave. They have square like patterns known as khats or chequered weave on them and weigh very light. The silk gives the shine whereas cotton gives strength to the fabric. These are very popular among the Saree lovers as the khat is one of the feature that distinguishes this one from other sarees.
